Julia Kaiser

Liechtenstein

Julia Kaiser is a renowned sculptor and painter. Her expressive stone sculptures have featured in numerous exhibitions in Liechtenstein, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Her pieces captivate viewers with their powerful forms and lively dynamism. Central to her artistic process is the belief that every unworked stone contains a unique sculpture within it. She therefore begins her work with an intensive search for an extraordinary stone with its own history. Using precision and intuition, she reveals the hidden form, guided by the shape, structure and colour of the natural mineral material.

Julia Kaiser completed her training at the School of Applied Arts in Sarajevo, where she focused intensively on painting, drawing, metalworking, ceramics, and sculpture. In Switzerland, she furthered her knowledge and perfected the art of stoneworking. Kaiser's oeuvre is characterised by an experimental approach to materials, the interplay between raw and soft elements, and the exciting combination of apparent opposites. Her sculptures are distinguished by their energy and expressiveness, as well as a special sensitivity to form and movement.
