"Alexandra von Burg's extraordinary creative freedom consciously escapes any possible traditional definition; her intense and passionate experimentalism leads her from figurative to abstract, from surface painting to explicit material reproduction, from the selection of motifs extrapolated from reality to the representation of elements and contexts that transport us into a fantastic, ideal, luminous atmosphere, imbued with a positive energy of mysterious charm. Through various landscapes, it invites us to immerse ourselves in an unspoilt nature, to enjoy the vastness of the spaces, their temporal suspension and the silence that surrounds them. Over the years, Alexandra von Burg has developed a personal iconographic alphabet that characterizes a series of medium and small-format paintings in which the artist gives free rein to creative expression. She uses the collective imagination to extrapolate universal symbols with immediate recognition and reinterpret them in new contexts according to her style and our contemporary sensibility. In this sense, the choice of the square is emblematic, seen as the representation of a banal and repetitive lifestyle, ordered and thus obvious, in contrast to the circle, which on the contrary has always represented the balance but also the circularity of life. The circle can be a flat field or a sphere, it can circumscribe a circumference or create a spiral; in any case, it gives the dynamics of the composition a movement that is never linear, never predictable."
