Strait

Strait is a contemporary French painter who lives near Zurich. He draws inspiration from the energy and musicality of nature. He began his career in the 1980s with the graffiti movement. Travelling through various countries shaped his artistic development, leading him to pursue a career in stage design. It was in the street art scene that he developed his graphic style and preference for large-format works. As a stage designer, he honed these skills on stages around the world.

In 1997, he established his own fashion label to enhance his creative freedom. Around this time, he also discovered his passion for music, particularly percussion, the rhythmic energy of which continues to influence his paintings to this day. Today, he combines figurative and abstract elements in his art, blending classical techniques with urban materials. He creates ephemeral chalk artworks on various surfaces around the world. In 2009, he developed the concept of 'Strait on the Rock', accompanied by his first book.

His distinctive style combines movement, colour and energy, moving between abstract and figurative art. Nature is his main source of inspiration, and the movement of the sea and the transience of the tides have shaped his artistic work. Now a recognised artist, Strait exhibits at prestigious art events and organises his own cultural events, all the while remaining true to his artistic vision. Each of his pieces offers a glimpse into his boundless imagination, where colours dance in harmony and reveal the essence of his creations.
