Elvira Heimann | Projekt 061
Germany
Elvira Heimann creates large-format abstract artworks, combining different media and materials to create a semi-figurative visual language in which vitality and energy are palpable at first glance.
After studying art, music, philosophy, theology and psychology, and pursuing a career as a Protestant pastor and clinical psychologist, she devoted herself to art with renewed intensity 15 years ago. She has furthered her practice through numerous training courses and masterclasses. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Sweden, England, Paris, China and New York.
Heimann's abstract paintings offer a sensual reflection on nature and its forces. They balance chaos and order, recalling the playful freedom of childhood. Intuitive mark-making and gestural movement create a visual language that touches on the invisible and emphasises the deep interconnection between humans and nature.
As both an artist and a psychologist, Heimann explores how we navigate a frequently chaotic reality and develop inner stability. Her works reflect the processes by which we structure, filter and shape our experiences, resembling the logic of natural systems.
Her paintings encourage inner dialogue. They encourage feelings of connectedness, resilience and presence, inviting viewers to explore their own inner landscape.
For Project 061, Heimann has joined forces with Wolfgang Schaper to form an artist collective. Although they both share a keen interest in painterly expressiveness, their approaches could not be more different.
Project 061 sees itself as a dialogue of opposites: impulsive versus multi-layered and abstract versus narrative. The collective is always in search of the resonance that unfolds between the work and its viewer. These contrasting artistic styles shape the collective's profile. The result is a diverse body of work ranging from experimental pieces to classical paintings that impresses with its creative quality and clear contemporary attitude.
