Will Skill Passion
Switzerland
Will Skill Passion imports and distributes high-quality pashminas, which are traditionally hand-woven and embroidered by skilled craftsmen with years of experience in Kashmir and India. These products are sold under the label 'Gorgeous Shawls'. The company's name reflects the dedication, skill and passion of the artisans and everyone else involved in this craft.
Pashmina is the highest-quality form of cashmere. It is obtained from the soft undercoat of the Changthangi or pashmina goat, which is native to the high altitudes of the Himalayas. Thanks to its exceptional warmth, lightness and softness, pashmina is widely regarded as one of the finest natural fibres in the world. Genuine pashmina is traditionally produced by hand-spinning, resulting in textiles of unrivalled quality — particularly scarves. The rarity of the material and the labour-intensive production process make pashmina a highly sought-after luxury item.
For ART INTERNATIONAL 2026, Will Skill Passion has launched the art project 'Pashmina and its Goat – Every Pashmina Begins with a Goat', offering a contemporary artistic interpretation of the origins of the world's finest fibre. This project is accompanied by a series of hand-painted ceramic sculptures by the artist Jonas Fries. The use of coloured acrylic motifs, sometimes combined with gold or copper, evokes the dynamic movement of fine goatskin. The ceramics will be presented at the fair alongside selected pashmina scarves, bridging the gap between contemporary art and textile craftsmanship.
Jonas Fries has had a family connection to art since birth: one of his great-uncles was a painter, which explains his own exploration of colour and ornamentation. "For me, the repetition found in ornamentation and painting are forms of meditative concentration and expressiveness." He completed his training as a craft designer at the Chamber of Crafts in Upper Bavaria. During his studies in Berlin and at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland in Basel, he further developed his artistic practice. Travelling to South America and undertaking a ceramics-focused study visit to Japan further broadened his artistic perspective. Most recently, he undertook a three-month study visit to the painting department at the MSGSÜ in Istanbul.
In 2025, Gorgeous Shawls launched the 'Pashmina and its Painting' art project in collaboration with the artist Christine Collet. The granddaughter of a Bern-based painter, Collet received artistic training from an early age. Her extensive travels, including to South Korea and Central America, have inspired her artistic work, influencing her use of colour, scent and emotion. She met important artists along the way, from whom she learned valuable lessons that helped her develop her own personal style. She works with texture, sand, pigments, oil, acrylic and tar. Her pieces are often abstract, but occasionally incorporate figurative elements that draw the viewer into a space of tension between dream and reality. The artist describes her working method as follows: 'The brush is the key that opens the door to my imaginary world.'
