Art between light and shadow
The life of Swiss artist Alex Spielmann has been characterised by change, inner strength and an unshakeable determination to find creative inspiration in difficult times. Every challenge she has overcome has shaped her, profoundly influencing her artistic work.
For Spielmann, sport is not just a form of compensation; it is an essential source of physical and mental energy. This combination of movement, strength, and self-discovery is evident in her art. Her art depicts life's highs and lows, as well as contrasts such as light and shadow, and strength and fragility. A central motif in her work is the horizon, which symbolises hope, change, and new beginnings. It represents Spielmann's life journey and conveys a message of openness and continuous development.
Although her works are characterised by an intense dialogue with her own history, they do not dwell on the personal. Instead, they invite viewers to find their own experiences, doubts and hopes within them. Her art is an expression of life lived: raw, sensitive and powerful.
A golden horizon embedded in deep petrol blue and framed by mysterious black. 'Mirror of the Soul' is a profound, reflective piece that is mystical, calm and powerful. Like the still surface of water carrying light and shadow, it invites you to recognise yourself in it. The dark edges offer a glimpse into the unknown, while the glowing gold offers hope and clarity.

When light touches the Earth, the sky is mirrored on the ground, creating the impression that everything is in motion and nothing is fixed. 'Reflection of Life' captures this constant change, as well as the interplay between clarity and blurriness, and between what is visible and what remains hidden. Like a landscape after rain, it is still damp and full of reflections, ready for whatever comes next. It is a moment between the past and the future, between stability and new beginnings. Life is never static — it reflects, changes and flows.

This work has its origins in itself. 'Traces of the Earth' reminds us of what lies beneath our feet: the visible and tangible world we have grown to know. Each layer tells the story of the past and present. It is a silent testimony to inner movement and the connection between space, nature, and emotion. It is a piece that rests and continues simultaneously.

'Golden Scars' is a work about what remains. It is about fractures that are not hidden but made visible. It is about scars that tell not only of injury, but also of healing, growth and inner strength. As part of the 'Golden Threshold' series, it represents a transformative moment. It represents the light that shines where there was once darkness. It is a realistic image, not a perfect one.

'Rooted in Silence' is a piece that has grown out of tranquillity. It speaks of depth and connection, and of the idea that an impact does not have to be loud. Rooted in stillness and movement, it creates space for what slowly reveals itself. It is an image that does not impose itself yet remains persistent.
'Boundary layer of memory' tells of a moment between levels, between the visible and the hidden, between the past and its echo. The interrupted horizon creates space for the unspoken. The intense structure evokes a lived feeling: palpable, charged and real. This piece does not explain but reminds us.
