Robert Schwander
Switzerland
Born in Lucerne in 1961, Robert Schwander spent his childhood on an idyllic farmstead, an experience which would prove to have a significant impact on his developing interest in nature and sustainable lifestyles.
Schwander's artistic oeuvre occupies the liminal space between reality and abstraction. Utilising visual distortion and blurring techniques, he engenders a blurred reality in which the familiar is rearranged, distorted and placed in unfamiliar contexts. Through the deliberate manipulation of dissolution of order and logic, Schwander enables new perspectives and a fluid level of perception to emerge. Acrylic on canvas and paper are the mediums of his choice.
In his artistic practice, he is intuitively guided by shapes and colours that reflect the dynamics of the surrounding nature.
Another central aspect of his work is macro photography. This enables him to visualise the hidden details of nature and helps to sharpen the eye for the often overlooked subtleties of life. The analysis of these structures unveils a profound complexity and aesthetic quality that is frequently disregarded in quotidian life.
The artist's work evinces a profound depth, capturing the unseen forces that govern the movement of the world. The harmony of the whole is ultimately manifested in the fusion of light and shadow, order and chaos. Schwandner's commitment to biodynamic agriculture, which emphasises the balance and vitality of nature, is also evident in his artistic practice.
The works of Schwandner thus serve as a catalyst, inviting viewers to delve into the hidden and rediscover the secret stories of nature.

Robert Schwander: Hidden rhythms of nature / Photography
Hidden rhythms of nature
Robert Schwander interprets the image of the mushroom as a manifestation of the subtle forces at work in nature, beyond the visible. Growing out of the darkness of the earth, the mushroom symbolises the mystery of life that arises from the connection between earth and sky. The artist interprets the delicate, undulating structures of the mushroom's lamellae as a metaphor for the rhythmic processes of breathing and the circular movements of living things that permeate all of material and cosmic reality. He refers to the spiritual forces at work in every living thing, giving it its shape, colour and structure. From this perspective, the everyday is revealed as profound and full of wisdom.

Miasto
In the painting entitled 'Miasto', Robert Schwander succeeds in capturing the city in all its mystical and multi-layered splendour. The use of cool blue and grey tones serves to reflect the deep, often hidden stories inherent in every cityscape. The application of golden accents serves to enhance the image's vibrancy, thereby conveying the rhythm and dynamism characteristic of urban environments.

Robert Schwander: Turmalin / Acrylic on canvas, 50x70cm
Turmalin
The composition 'Turmalin' is the result of an attempt to reconcile the quiet power of nature with the human presence. The composition depicts an expansive natural landscape dominated by soothing shades of blue and grey. The colour scheme captures the depth of the water and the stillness of nature. The depiction of three central figures symbolises human interaction and mindfulness in a calm, harmonious world.

Robert Schwander: Kapuzinerkresse / Photography
Nasturtium (Kapuzinerkresse)
In his photographic documentation of the nasturtium, Robert Schwander has managed to capture the essence of this plant. He focused on the vibrant colours and fascinating details that often remain hidden. To capture the aesthetics and details of the plant, the photographer approached the flower from an unusually close perspective. The photograph brings to life the essence of the nasturtium and the link between the visible and the almost magical that exists in nature.

Robert Schwander: White Rose / Photography
White Rose
In this work, artist Robert Schwander has captured the pure, unadulterated aesthetic of a white rose. The soft curves of the petals and the soft light emphasise the purity and elegance of the flower. From the artist's perspective, the white rose symbolises tranquillity, peace and innocence. The artist's aim was to capture the delicate texture and subtle depth of the rose, depicting the tranquil perfection of nature and encouraging the viewer to appreciate the simplicity and complexity of the flower.
