LumenArt - Martina Schiffer
Switzerland
Martina Schiffer's artistic oeuvre can be regarded as a progression from the stylistic tenets of 1920s Art Deco.
Her artistic practice encompasses the utilisation of refined colour palettes, gold leaf, beaten metals, and meticulously symmetrical patterns, all of which serve to evoke the decorative opulence of the era. In addition to the employment of clear geometry, a hallmark of classic Art Deco, she incorporates organic, flowing forms, thereby endowing her works with a modern yet timeless depth and vibrancy.
A pivotal element of her artistic repertoire is the mandala, which she integrates into her compositions in her own contemporary interpretation. The synthesis of luxurious elegance, spiritual and contemporary influences gives rise to a distinctive visual language that unites tradition and innovation.
The viewer is encouraged to immerse themselves in the patterns and structures, and to experience the spirit of Art Deco and the calming power of the mandala in a new, personal way.
