Studio Aoristico
Matteo Lo Greco
Italy
Matteo Lo Greco is a sculptor of Sicilian origin who has resided in Venice for a considerable duration. A distinctive characteristic of his artistic oeuvre is the combination of Mediterranean sensuality and classical formal language, as evidenced in his works.
His oeuvre is represented in numerous international collections. His oeuvre comprises expressive, frequently voluminous sculptures, predominantly executed in bronze, stone, or marble, that embody themes such as love, friendship, sensuality, and movement.
The artist's studio, Aoristico, is notable for its vibrant atmosphere. Situated in a historic Venetian building in the city centre, the studio functions as a forum for artistic encounters and creative exchange. The studio is conceptualised as a space of artistic openness, with form and emotion as its central focus. Despite its local roots, the gallery has a strong international focus. The term 'Aoristico', derived from the Greek, signifies 'timeless' or 'indefinite'. This notion is further reflected in Lo Greco's artistic methodology. His oeuvre is deeply rooted in classical sculpture, but deliberately transcends temporal and stylistic boundaries.
Studio Aoristico will be showing works by Matteo Lo Greco, Caterina Oliveira Lo Greco, Giulio Cassanelli, Leòn Muraca, Marco Galletti, Sibylle Monica Wirth Zubler and Carlo Memo.
