Karin Myriel Leopold
Switzerland
Karin Myriel Leopold grew up in the Zurich Oberland. Even as a child her life was full of colours, ideas and fantasies, figures and shapes. She loved doodling on paper, drawing with chalk in the street, and building figures outdoors with earth and water that washed away after a heavy rain. Later she learned to paint with many different materials and to create figures with textile stiffeners. Her abstract paintings are mostly made with structural pastes, acrylics, mixed media, ash and 24-carat gold leaf. She carefully forms her sculptures from textile stiffeners. In many layers she brings out the deep expression of her soul. Going through the many emotions, highs and lows of creating a work is part of the process. Leopold gives free rein to the colours and forms until they are touched and completed. For Karin Myriel Leopold, each piece is a new discovery of the unknown. The viewer has the opportunity to discover something profound and valuable.
