Nelly Vöhringer
Germany
Nelly Vöhringer was born in Hanover and currently splits her time between Berlin and central Germany. After spending several years in the Dominican Republic, she returned in 2020 with a wealth of experiences to draw on.
Since then, she has developed a distinctive artistic style. Her large-format works often combine emotional depth with a determined search for freedom, identity and inner balance.
Inspired by Dadaism, her approach is unconventional, experimental, and free of rules. Her works oscillate between expressive explosions of colour and dark, enigmatic scenarios. The result is a powerful visual language that is both associative and critical.
The piece displayed below, titled 'Coffee in Berlin', sees symbolism and fragmentation converge to create an intense visual and thematic experience.
Nelly Vöhringer's works are far more than just aesthetic statements. They resemble emotional dialogues that stir, question and touch. Her artistic process is akin to focusing: through overpainting, removal, rearrangement and pauses, she achieves inner balance. In the process, the foreground and background are set in motion, offering a constant change of perspective, much like focusing a camera.
These impulsively created pieces invite us to consider questions of identity, perception and experience.
