Johann Kralewski's art stems from an immediate, intuitive connection to the unconscious mind. The theme and inner impulse of his works determine his choice of technique, which may include watercolour, oil painting, drawing, screen printing or lithography.

His 'second drawings', spontaneous sheets of paper capturing the creative moment, are particularly influential. Working on several pieces simultaneously with different materials is an essential part of Kralewski's artistic process, enabling him to convey the intensity of his experiences authentically.
Born and raised in the Silesian mining region and the Beskids in Poland, Kralewski now lives and works in Islisberg and Locarno. He currently lives and works in Islisberg and Locarno. After training as a chemical engineer and studying metallurgy, he began studying photography at university and took part in his first photo exhibitions in 1974. At the same time, he worked as a graduate engineer in industry, where he developed numerous technical innovations and registered patents.
From 1999 onwards, he became more focused on the visual arts, studying screen printing, lithography, drawing and project development at the Institute of Fine Arts at Philipps University in Marburg, under the tutelage of Prof. Eckhard Kremers. During this period, he studied the work of Jean Dubuffet and Francis Bacon in depth, and their influence can still be seen in his work today.
His works and installations have been exhibited internationally to great acclaim, with drawing being considered an essential part of his artistic identity.
