This series by Ying Handler is linked to the artist's experiences. She has lived and studied in many different cities and countries. Changing living conditions, epidemics, wars and extreme weather conditions have always concerned Ying. Home is an important place in human life, providing a sense of security and stability. The series explores the longing for home.

Inspired by the world of Ying meditation, the Universum collection from Ying Handler is all about bright colours and expressive graphics and symbols. Love and hope are at the heart of the range.

This artwork represents a dream of the artist. The centre of the painting, which is painted in blue and green, represents the sky and nature. It shows two figures ascending into the sky. The surroundings of the picture are characterised by buildings, mountains and green landscapes. In this dream, Ying Handler experiences what life is like as an immigrant in a new country and a new culture. Aspects such as newness, curiosity, fear and rootlessness are thematised. The floating movements of the figures and the deconstructed buildings in the work reflect the surrealistic feeling of the dream.
