YanYan

Switzerland / China

YanYan is an artist from the Chinese province of Yunnan. She started painting at the age of 6 and studied art and painting at Yunnan Art University from 1987 to 1991. She then worked as a teacher and interior designer in various cities in China, including Beijing and Guangdong. During this time she produced numerous paintings and book illustrations.

For YanYan, it is important to adapt quickly to a new culture and its people and to appreciate diversity. She has now lived in Switzerland for over 20 years and has come to know and love the country. During this time, she has created several series of photographs, each of which tells its own story. The series published so far are 'Animal Family', 'Porcelain', 'Made in Switzerland - Made by YanYan', 'Me and my Swiss Life', 'Matterhorn', 'Plants', 'Flower Pictures' and 'Poppies'.
Humour, simplicity, pure colours, beauty and a touch of eroticism are very important to this busy artist. Each of her paintings is full of surprising details and creative ideas that are not obvious at first glance.

YanYan has successfully exhibited her work in various galleries in Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Thailand and China. She has exhibited at Galerie Erni Kunsthandel in Lucerne, Rhy Art Fair in Basel, Swissartexpo 2020, Art International Zurich from 2016 to present, Art Innsbruck 2018-2021 and art3f 2021 in Luxembourg, among others. She is a member of the Swiss-Chinese Chamber of Architects and Artists.
