Sophie Sarda-Légaré
Switzerland / Canada
Canadian artist Sophie Sarda-Légaré (*1968 in Québec) has lived in Switzerland since 1989. Her paintings go beyond the pure observation of things. The artist expresses herself through colours, shapes and textures. Her painting creates a path that leads to another world, a place of refuge.
Although Sarda-Légaré prefers abstraction, she is inspired by the nature that surrounds her. She mixes figurative elements such as mountains, forests, plants, lakes and rivers with abstract mists of colour. An alchemy that skilfully overlaps figurative and abstract geometric elements. Sometimes texture and colour take over from the representational and a new universe is created.
