Drawn stories. Each flower is an accomplished perfect form or system that represents a certain kind of character. Sacred geometry determines the number of its petals, branches, and curves. And in terms of describing beauty, a flower is a perfected, harmonious form of existence.
In a spiritual series of drawings, Elmira Herren visualises so-called demigods ("devas") travelling on airships made of flowers to higher planes of the universe.
The precise drawings are created during a process of meditation. Elmira Herren previously used her amazing drawing skills in her profession as an interior designer.
«Each flower is a perfected perfect form or system that represents a certain kind of character. Sacred geometry determines the number of its petals, branches and curves. And in terms of describing beauty, a flower is a perfected, harmonious form of existence.
When one turns to drawing and wants to express an idea with simple means such as paper and pencil, one never sees the whole picture at once. Usually there is a certain idea, e.g. a figure or some special features, and the details emerge in the course of the creative process.
Usually the best drawings are created in a state of emptiness. Then one is enveloped by the idea and the creative process begins. The background music, its tempo and tonality, and the chanting of a mantra can contribute a lot here. Subsequently, you think of characters and their characteristics; you imagine how they move; you think of their lifestyle and desires. Then you move on to habits and interests, but you never focus on details because they are always unpredictable and uncontrollable.
When I start working on a new drawing, I expect nothing but a harmonious design. Then the music lets me slip into meditation, and very often, when I finish my drawing, I am amazed at the result of the work. My drawings are like frozen music that takes on different forms. I am inspired to give calmness, peace and soothing of the mind with my drawings.» - Elmira Herren
