Aurelia Waßer

The works of artist Aurelia Wasser can be seen at some of the most important art exhibitions around the globe. These include Art Miami, Armory Week in New York, and Art Karlsruhe. On display in Zurich are paintings, sculptures made of handmade paper, sculptures made of acrylic glass and photographs on Alu Dibond.

The focus of Aurelia Wasser's works is always on the theme of "light" in all its facets. Aurelia Wasser's paintings confront the viewer with disturbingly sublime landscapes. Yet these remain romantic in the best sense of the word - they always represent an elementary "inside" or "underneath".
Using handmade paper, Aurelia Wasser creates sculptures that peel out of her paintings piece by piece and finally manifest themselves as independent sculptures. In the interplay with light, these become thoroughly light figures and captivate the viewer with their lightness and individuality.
In Aurelia Wasser's sculptures made of acrylic glass, the cubes and wall reliefs, colour is used quite deliberately. The hammer and chisel-fitted acrylic glass objects capture the light, no matter how faint, at any time of day or night. Depending on the incidence of light, individual insights and shadow casts are created, which carry the viewer off into new dimensions.
Aurelia Wasser's photographs transfer her soul landscapes onto the material Alu Dibond. In doing so, she takes the light out of focus and leaves room for the shadow to unfold. Here, too, emotion is born in the viewer with perfection in the works.
